Description:                                    What is NC Safe Plates?
NC Safe Plates is a food safety certification course developed by NC State University. Certification is based on passing an ANSI-approved exam from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals. Passing this exam satisfies the North Carolina requirement for a certified food protection manager.


                                            Who should attend?
This is a comprehensive program for food service managers and supervisory staff in restaurants, hospitals,nursing homes, schools and other food handling establishments.

Date: July 1-3, 2019

Time: 9am-4:30pm on July 1st and 2nd; 9am-11am on July 3, 2019

We are holding a Safe Plates for Food Managers Training in McDowell County at the NC Cooperative Extension McDowell County Center. Safe Plates is a food safety training course developed by NC State University. Certification is based on passing an ANSI-approved exam from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals. Class will have sessions in the morning or evening see registration form to indicate which you will attend.

Description: NC Cooperative Extension offers NC Safe Plates for all those who work in the foodservice industry. The course helps food establishments meet the NC requirement of having at least one supervisor certified as a food protection manager, per the FDA Food Code 2013. NC Safe Plates is taught through case studies, storytelling, activities, and discussion. This class is interactive and encourages participants to engage with the material.

This course is designed for food employees who are seeking food protection manager certification. Certification is based on passing the ANSI-approved exam from the National Registry for Food Safety Professionals. Certification is accepted throughout the United States for 5 years from the date of the exam and includes a certificate to be displayed in the workplace as well as a wallet card.

Registration opens July 7th, 2019

Classes: August 19th - 20th, 2019 (both days)
Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (1-hour lunch break on your own)
Exam: August 26th, 2019 from 9:00 - 12:00 pm

Registration Fees: Class & Exam: $125*

                                  Exam only: $45**

*Payments must be received by the due date of August 7th, 2019 in order to participate in the class or take the exam. Class registration fee includes course-book, slides, 3 practice tests and the final exam.

** Exam-only options are available on the date above. Space is limited and priority is given to those taking the course.
