Safe Plates for Managers is a food safety training course developed by NC State University. It prepares you for the Food Safety Manager Certification Examination. Passing this exam satisfies the 2022 FDA Model Food Code requirement for a certified food protection manager.

Safe Plates is different from other food safety manager classes because is taught through case studies, storytelling, activities, and discussion. Learn about developing a food safety culture at your worksite, safe handling, preparation, storage, allergens, and active management.

Books and classes will be in English. The exam is available in English, Spanish, Korean, and 

Class: March 4 and 11, 2024 (both days require your attendance)
Time: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm     (*1-hour lunch break on your own)

Exam: March 18, 2024 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Registration Closes on February 28, 2024.

Location: Bonnie B. Davis Center 1020 US-70 W Suite 130 Hillsborough, NC 27278 (in front of the Hillsborough DMV)

Registration Fee: $125 (includes the cost of the manual, handouts, study materials, and exam)

Exam only: $50 (very limited space)

*Check payments must be received by 5:00 pm February 28, 2024 in order to participate in the class and take the exam. No exception.
