Safe Plates is a course for Food Protection Managers and satisfies requirements for the 2017 Food Code. Class will be held at the McDowell County Cooperative Extension Conference Room:

May 29th and 30th, 9a-4:30p (1-hr lunch break, lunch not provided)
May 31st , Exam day 1pm -4:30pm

Description:

We are holding a Safe Plates for Food Managers Training in Union County at our Agricultural Center. Safe Plates is a food safety training course developed by NC State University. Certification is based on passing an ANSI-approved exam from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals. Passing this exam satisfies the FDA Model Food Code requirement for a certified food protection manager.

Dates of Training: June 3rd & 4th, 2019 from 8AM to 4PM (Includes a 1-hour Lunch)
Test Day: June 5th, 2019 from 9AM to 12PM

Cost: $150 (Includes books, handouts, and exams)

Payment Information: Send payment and registration form by mail or to our county center. Payment must be received before the first day of training, June 3rd, 2019.

Description: NC Cooperative Extension offers NC Safe Plates for all those who work in the foodservice industry. The course helps food establishments meet the NC requirement of having at least one supervisor certified as a food protection manager, per the FDA Food Code 2013. NC Safe Plates is taught through case studies, storytelling, activities, and discussion. This class is interactive and encourages participants to engage with the material.

This course is designed for food employees who are seeking food protection manager certification. Certification is based on passing the ANSI-approved exam from the National Registry for Food Safety Professionals. Certification is accepted throughout the United States for 5 years from the date of the exam and includes a certificate to be displayed in the workplace as well as a wallet card.

Registration opens July 7th, 2019

Classes: August 19th - 20th, 2019 (both days)
Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (1-hour lunch break on your own)
Exam: August 26th, 2019 from 9:00 - 12:00 pm

Registration Fees: Class & Exam: $125*

                                  Exam only: $45**

*Payments must be received by the due date of August 7th, 2019 in order to participate in the class or take the exam. Class registration fee includes course-book, slides, 3 practice tests and the final exam.

** Exam-only options are available on the date above. Space is limited and priority is given to those taking the course.
