The Person County Cooperative Extension will be offering “NC Safe Plates” for all those who work in the food service industry. The course will help food establishments meet the requirement of having at least one supervisor certified as a food protection manager, which is a mandate of the NC Food Code. There will be instruction in personal hygiene, purchasing from reputable suppliers, eliminating cross-contamination, and correct temperatures for storing, preparing, and holding foods.
Each year in the United States there are around 5,000 unnecessary deaths that occur from a food borne illnesses. Also, there are hundreds of hospitalizations, unnecessary medical expenses, lost time from work, loss of revenue from the business, customer mistrust, and the list goes one.
“NC Safe Plates” will be offered by Person County Cooperative Extension on September 23-26, 2019 from 9:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. with the exam on September 27, 2019. Participants will receive a certificate required for inspections. The registration fee is $135 and is due by September 4 along with the registration form.
